Year-Round News & Updates on the Minnesota Timberwolves
The deadline for all non-guaranteed contracts to become guaranteed is tomorrow (Monday, Jan. 7th), thus the Minnesota Timberwolves decided to waive Lazar Hayward and his non-guaranteed contract, Sunday evening.
Lazar was signed on Dec. 31st to provide depth at the 'wing' while the Wolves went on that two-game road trip. Lazar played in two games with the Wolves (Wed. @UTH and Sat. vs. POR). He played 12 total minutes and compiled two points, two assists and two rebounds. It is possible that the Wolves decide to bring Lazar back on a 10-day contract. Teams can begin offering those on Monday (1/7). Usually teams can begin offering 10-day contracts on Jan. 5th, but because it fell on a Saturday this year, it's pushed to the next business day. With Kevin Love out for the next month or (likely) more, the Wolves could look to another frontcourt player. That seems less likely considering the Wolves currently have Dante, Derrick & Lou at power forward. It's more likely they look to someone like the recently waived Chris Douglas-Roberts or Mickael Gelabale. Some names should begin surfacing shortly and we'll give you plenty of updates as they're made available. Stay tuned, thanks for reading HOWL and GO WOLVES!
