Year-Round News & Updates on the Minnesota Timberwolves
Starting tomorrow, Chase Budinger will be a full participant in practice. This is the first time since the preseason that he is able to go full-speed without an limitations.
When the Wolves traded Derrick Williams for Luc Richard Mbah a Moute, the front office stated that both Budinger & Turiaf would hopefully be back before Christmas. With Christmas eight days away, he could still return, it just depends on his conditioning. There's absolutely no doubt that Budinger's return will provide a major boost to the Timberwolves bench. Especially considering that Dante Cunningham's ankle injury could keep him out for a stretch. Stay tuned to the "Injury Report" for updates on Bud, Turiaf and Cunningham (...and Martin).

After violating the NBA's anti-flopping rules for a second time this season, Corey Brewer has been fined $5,000.
This violation came vs. the Heat on Saturday and the punishment was levied on Monday. The 'flop' occurred late in the first quarter following a slight bump from LeBron James on a rebound attempt where Corey "flailed his arms and threw his body towards the free-throw line to act like he'd been pushed hard". Brewer received his first flop warning last month. Corey is just the second player to receive a fine for flopping this season (the other being Houston's James Harden). That's all for now, thanks for reading HOWL and GO WOLVES! Kevin Love's maternal grandmother has passed away and as a result, Kevin is away from the team to be with his family.
Love was not at practice on Friday and will not play in Saturday's game vs. the Miami Heat. Minnesota's next game isn't until Tuesday (vs. Detroit) and it's likely he'll return to the team before then. This will be the first game of the season that Kevin has missed, he's played in the other 19 and is currently leading the NBA in rebounds (13.6) and double-doubles (18). It's likely that Dante Cunningham will get the start in his place and Luc Richard Mbah a Moute (who has now had a lot more time with the team) should see more playing time at power forward, too. Also, Rick & (assistant coach) David Adelman missed Friday's practice as well. David's wife was expecting a baby. It sounds as though Rick will be back for Saturday's bout with Miami. I'm not sure whether the baby was born or if David will be on the sidelines on Saturday night. That's all for now, thanks for reading and GO WOLVES! |
