Year-Round News & Updates on the Minnesota Timberwolves
The Minnesota Timberwolves are already without four players for an extended period of time: Kevin Love (broken hand) out until March, Chase Budinger (knee) out until March, Brandon Roy (knee) who knows and Malcolm Lee (knee/hip) out for the season following successful surgery earlier this week.
With those four players out the Wolves have just eleven healthy players, however that wasn't the case during Wednesday's practice. The Wolves have been without their head coach Rick Adelman for five straight games while his wife is hospitalized in Minneapolis. Adelman visited the team during today's practice to address the team, but didn't stay for the actual practice, which would probably suggest he won't be back with the team anytime soon. Terry Porter will continue be acting head coach in his absence. So, not only are the Wolves down four players for extended time as well as their head coach, but today three players missed practice with an illness: Alexey Shved, Andrei Kirilenko and Lazar Hayward. Here's hoping those three (or at least Shved & Kirilenko) are available for Thursday's game vs. the Clippers. What would the starting lineup look like without them? My best guess would be Ricky Rubio, Luke Ridnour, Derrick Williams, Dante Cunningham and Nikola Pekovic; with a bench of J.J. Barea, Lou Amundson and Greg Stiemsma. Facing the L.A. Clippers on Thursday, if the Wolves have just eight healthy players it's going to be a long night. That's all for now, thanks for reading HOWL and GO WOLVES!
