Year-Round News & Updates on the Minnesota Timberwolves
The Minnesota Timberwolves did the expected and waived swingman Lazar Hayward Sunday evening, before his non-guaranteed contract became fully guaranteed the following day.
In the previous post under the 'News' section I listed roughly 20 players (including Lazar) that the Wolves could look at to fill the hole in the depth chart at shooting guard/small forward.
It appears as though the Wolves have decided upon resigning Lazar Hayward to a 10-day contract. Assuming Hayward clears waivers this afternoon (almost definite he will) he'll be back with the Wolves on a 10-day contract and suit up for them as they face the Atlanta Hawks tonight at the Target Center.
His 10-day contract would thus end on Jan. 17th at which time they could sign him to another 10-day contract (can only give two 10-day contracts to a player in a season) that would last until Jan. 27th (assuming he's immediately resigned). After that, the Wolves could sign him to a rest-of-the-season contract or look elsewhere to someone like Mickael Gelabale. Needless to say, if the Wolves are only interested in giving out 10-day contracts, there are going to be quite a few players coming and going for the remainder of the season. I wouldn't doubt the Wolves might sign someone to a rest-of-the-season contract, but I highly doubt that, that player is Lazar.
That's all for now, check out the gameday preview of the Hawks game under the 'Gameday' section on this site! Thanks for reading HOWL and GO WOLVES!
