Year-Round News & Updates on the Minnesota Timberwolves
The Minnesota Timberwolves have brought former Minnesota Timberwolves swingman Lazar Hayward, back to Minnesota.
Lazar was originally drafted by the Wizards in the 2010 draft (30th overall) and traded to the Wolves on draft night. He played 42 games for the Wolves in 2010-11 with averages of 3.8ppg, 1.7rpg, 0.7apg, 0.2bpg, 0.3spg in 10.0mpg. He was traded to the Oklahoma City Thunder prior to the start of last season for two second round draft picks and Robert Vaden (who was waived shortly thereafter). He played 26 games for the Western Conference Champion Thunder last season with averages of 1.4ppg, 0.6rpg, 0.2apg, 0.0bpg, 0.1spg in 5.4mpg. For the second-straight offseason, he was again traded--this time to the Houston Rockets in the James Harden deal. Unfortunately due to all the forwards on the Rocket roster already, Hayward was expendable and was waived shortly after being traded. He hasn't played at all this season, he did recently sign with the D-League D-Fenders, but didn't play any games. The Wolves announced his signing on Monday afternoon. Hayward's contract with the Wolves is a non-guaranteed deal. All NBA deals become guaranteed on January 10th, which means he could very well be here for just a few days before being waived. Which begs the question...what's the point?! I have serious reservations that he'll see much court time, Adelman won't play him if it doesn't help the team. The Wolves do play five games up until that January 10th deadline, which start on January 2nd (Wed.) vs. the Jazz in Utah. I wouldn't expect Lazar to play much or be on this Wolves squad for very long. That's all for now, thanks for reading HOWL and GO WOLVES!
