Year-Round News & Updates on the Minnesota Timberwolves
The Rising Stars Challenge will feature a brand-new format to the original format of Rookies vs. Sophomores. Instead a pool of players has been chosen and those players will be mixed together on two teams.
TNT analysts Charles Barkley & Shaquille O'Neal will be the general managers of the two teams. Also, TNT's Kenny Smith will serve as an honorary commissioner & Ernie Johnson will be hosting the 'draft' where teams will be chosen--that's being held on Thurs., Feb. 16 on NBA TV at 6pmCT.
The pool of players were chosen by NBA's assistant coaches--with each team putting out one ballot. The team's will consist of nine players on each roster.
Let's take a look at the pool of players they'll be able to chose from...
The biggest snubs--for the Timberwolves? Nikola Pekovic! Pek has been playing great the past few games--but his production is likely seen as too little too late. If he was the team's starting center from day one and continued the kind of unbelievable production he's had recently--the Wolves would be represented by three of their players! The other TWolf that didn't make it was Wesley Johnson--though that comes as no great surprise. He's certainly not been playing like a top 4 pick in last season's draft--not last year--and especially not this year!
