Year-Round News & Updates on the Minnesota Timberwolves
The Minnesota Timberwolves will finally meet face-to-face with Rick Adelman later today. Adelman is one of seven candidates that are in-line to be the next Minnesota Timberwolves head coach--after Kurt Rambis was fired earlier this summer.
Adelman was the only candidate who didn't meet with David Kahn & Glen Taylor face-to-face, instead talking with David Kahn at length on the phone. Terry Porter, Mike Woodson, Larry Brown, Bernie Bickerstaff, Don Nelson and Sam Mitchell are the other six candidates who all met in person with Kahn & Taylor. It's been noted that the strongest candidates are Don Nelson--three time coach of the year & the winningest coach in NBA history. Larry Brown who is just behind Nelson's 1335 wins with 1275 of his own as well as a 2004 championship ring--with the Detroit Pistons. Sam Mitchell former Wolves player & Coach of the Year with Toronto. Adelman has voiced that he doesn't intend to coach in the NBA next season, while he'll take at least a year off after his stint in Houston that ended this summer, when the Rockets fired him and hired former Wolves GM & head coach: Kevin McHale. In 20 seasons as an NBA head coach, Adelman has missed the playoffs just 4 times (the last two years with Houston). Adelman is considered the front runner for the job because of his connection with Kahn as well as Kevin Love (who grew up and played high school basketball in Portland OR). That's all for now, thanks for reading and remember to check back daily for TWolves news, information & updates.
