Year-Round News & Updates on the Minnesota Timberwolves
ESPN is in the midst of their second-annual #NBARank and for the next few weeks while they unveil all 500 players ranked, we'll be taking a look at where our Minnesota Timberwolves players land. The MIGHTY PEK! Without a doubt, Nikola Pekovic is my favorite TWolf. When I played in high school, at 6'4", 265lbs. it was my job to bully guys down low. Watching Nikola bang in the post is REALLY fun to watch. I'm really hoping that with the signing of Greg Stiemsma, they'll stop trying to replace Pekovic with an 'athletic shot-blocking center'. Nikola was robbed last season in the Most Improved Player of the Year Award (actually I thought it should've been Ersan Ilyasova and not Ryan Anderson. #1: Anderson, #2: Ilyasova, #3: Pekovic--how they finished). Jack Sikma and the rest of Rick Adelman's VERY talented staff worked with Pekovic prior to last season and by midseason, when Darko was being Darko, Pekovic earned the starting job. He had some trouble toward the end of the season with some ankle issues (bone spurs). He's had surgery to remove them and in an interview recently he stated he shed nearly ten pounds to take some of the pressure off that ankle. I'm looking forward to the Timberwolves' games vs. the Hawks (Al Hoford), Warriors (Andrew Bogut), Pacers (Roy Hibbert), Lakers (Dwight Howard), Grizzlies (Marc Gasol), Knicks (Tyson Chandler), 76ers (Andrew Bynum), Suns (Marcin Gortat) and the Kings (DeMarcus Cousins) and the fun matchups they'll present for the PEKsecutioner's ImPEKable post play (such alliteration!!). :) That's all for now, still three TWolves players to go (Andrei Kirilenko, Ricky Rubio & Kevin Love--they should appear in that order). Thanks for reading HOWL and GO WOLVES!
