Year-Round News & Updates on the Minnesota Timberwolves
ESPN is nearing the end of their second-annual #NBARank. Our latest Minnesota Timberwolf to show up on the list? Point guard Ricky Rubio. A year ago, rookie Ricky Rubio came to Minnesota and immediately had A LOT of pressure put on him. No one was quite sure how his skill set would translate in the NBA. Savoir? I had my doubts. However, he proved me and a lot of others wrong. The Timberwolves now have their point guard of the future after those terrible years of Randy Foye, Sebastian Telfair, Jonny Flynn. Needless to say, I think we've got a keeper. Coming into last season, Rubio was ranked #204. He quickly proved (like most rookies) that, that was WAY to low. Along with Kevin Love & Nikola Pekovic, Rubio is one of the cornerstones of this franchise. For the first time in a long time there's a buzz of optimism and excitement in Minnesota for the Timberwolves, in large part to Mr. Rubio. The biggest question for Ricky heading into 2012-13, is when will Ricky be back and MORE IMPORTANTLY: when will Ricky be back to 100%? Right now, the Timberwolves main goal for this season will be making the playoffs. I think we can all agree their not quite ready to seriously challenge contenders like the Lakers, Thunder or Heat (of course these will be some of the most exciting games, next season). The Timberwolves have quite A LOT more help this season (Pekovic, Kirilenko, Roy, Budinger, Barea, Ridnour, Williams, etc.) however Ricky's health and ability to contribute will be the hinge on which the Wolves teeter this season. Twelve down, one to go. Just Kevin Love to show up on #NBARank now. I'm expecting he's Top 10 and the #1 power forward in the NBA! We'll find out soon enough. That's all for now, thanks for reading HOWL and GO WOLVES!
