Year-Round News & Updates on the Minnesota Timberwolves
The Minnesota Timberwolves have just completed a trade that will send second-year forward Lazar Hayward to the Oklahoma City Thunder for two future second round picks.
Hayward didn't attend practice today which led to speculation that he may have been waived by the Wolves. Oklahoma City Thunder general manager Sam Presti says, "We are excited to be able to add Lazar to our organization. His toughness, length and shooting are attributes that'll add depth to our roster." There's been some speculation by fans that this trade was to make room for a potential Jamal Crawford signing, however, that's not the case. It's to make room for newly acquired guard J.J. Barea. In fact, Jerry Zgoda of the Star Tribune has said Crawford's agent has made it known that the Timberwolves are no longer "in the running" for his services. On a sidenote, the Pacers, Blazers, Kings & Knicks are all potential destinations for Jamal. In this trade to OKC the TWolves also got guard Robert Vaden--who they waived immediately. With this trade and the J.J. Barea signing, the TWolves current roster sits at the max number of players: 15.
