Year-Round News & Updates on the Minnesota Timberwolves
Kevin Love just isn't getting much time on the court for Team USA. He played just five-and-a-half minutes vs. Brazil earlier this week and tonight vs. Great Britain, he played fifteen minutes, but he struggled, staying out of foul trouble and ultimately playing mainly 'garbage minutes', when the game's result was no longer in doubt.
In Team USA's win over Brazil (80-69) Love finished with 2 rebounds, 1 steal, 1 foul, 0-1 FG in 5:35 minutes off the bench. Team USA's leader was LeBron James with 30 points, 6 rebounds and 4 steals, on the night. In Team USA's win over Great Britain (118-78) Love finished with 6 points, 3 rebounds, 1 assist, 1 steal, 4 fouls, 1 turnover, 3-4 FG in 15 minutes off the bench. Team USA's leader was Carmelo Anthony and Deron Williams--both with 19 points, LeBron James added 16 points and Russell Westbrook had 15. Clearly, Love is struggling to find minutes and perform to the high-level he's shown he's capable of. Kevin's game seems tailor made for international play. A big man who can stretch the floor with his shooting, bang in the post, snatch up rebounds and hustle on both ends. Unfortunately, we just haven't seen that. Team USA has two exhibition games left (Sunday vs. Argentina and Tuesday vs. Spain. Then they'll begin the quarterfinals of Olympic Basketball. Hopefully, Love can find his niche in this 'loaded deck' of a team! Stay tuned for all things TWolves, thanks for reading HOWL and GO WOLVES!
