The Timberwolves travelled to Orlando on Sunday afternoon--far away from the cold weather of Minneapolis and hopefully far away from how they've played, in their last two games at the Target Center.
In those last two games: 51 turnovers...51! That game vs. Dallas? A league-high for this season: 28 turnovers!
My key for this game vs. Orlando? Believe it or not: limit turnovers. That and contain Dwight Howard, of course.
The Wolves hope to have Darko Milicic back and Rick Adelman knows they'll need him! Darko's post defense will be critical vs. the best center in the NBA! The sad/bad news? Darko may actually start again! Nikola Pekovic has been playing great in his absence and now he'll be moved to the bench because Darko's a slightly better defender. I don't guarantee he'll start, but if Adelman is saying the Wolves need him back it's VERY possible they'll start him to match up right away with DH in the starting lineup, as well.
I'm also pretty excited to see the battle on the boards between the league-leading rebounder: Dwight Howard and the 2nd league-leading rebounder: Kevin Love fight for rebounds.
The Magic are 17-11 this season and they're 9-6 at the Amway Center and have won 5 of their last 7 games (both losses coming in games that went to overtime). The Wolves are 13-15 on the year and are 6-5 on the road this season, they're also, currently riding a three-game losing streak, if they lose again--it will be the Wolves' longest losing steak this season: 4.
Since Love entered the League in 2008--the Magic have won all six games played vs. the Wolves, the past four years.
The Wolves' last game was that two-point loss to the New York Knicks. A full gameday recap of that one can be found in the previous post of this section. I won't get into that one now, though.
The Magic's last game was a five-point win over the Milwaukee Bucks. The Magic were able to rally with just five minutes left in the fourth quarter from 10 points down, thanks in large part to an impressive shooting night from Jason Richardson which helped considering DH hit just 5 of his 15 shots and finished with 11pts, 14rebs & 4blks. Richardson finished with 31pts on 11-of-18 shooting.
The Timberwolves will likely start a lineup of: Rubio, Ridnour, Johnson, Love & either Pekovic or Milicic (hopefully Pek). The Magic will counter with: Nelson, Richardson, Turkoglu, Anderson & Howard.
That's all for now. Thanks for reading HOWL and GO WOLVES!
